day 83: ticket

I raced the light and got through in the green (though the walking ticker turned to 1; the crosswalk was definitely empty.) Elated, thinking I had a chance to get to my appointment in time, I stepped on the break and coasted, anticipating the next red light.

My bubble burst as a cop pulled out and flashed his lights at me.

$150 poorer, I dragged myself back home, missing my appointment and skipping the gym.

I’m a big spender even with my penchant for forgoing coffee and the more expensive delicious chocolates at the grocery store (I’m looking at you Dandelion.) The shame is suffocating.
